MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team picked up a 12-3 Conference Carolinas victory over Barton on Wednesday afternoon.

Heather Orell and Alexandria Hammonds tallied hat-tricks in the contest with three goals.
Briana Gonzalez found the back of the net twice. Leslie Escobar scored once and assisted on three goals.
Emily Bush picked up the win in goal with eight saves. Tashana Barnett caused eight turnovers and picked up six ground balls.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Heather Orell put the Hawks on the board early as Jasmine Latney found Orell for the goal. Leslie Escobar found Alexandria Hammonds for the goal two minutes later.
Sabrina Isch converted on a free position attempt before finding Briana Gonzalez for the 4-0 advantage.
Following the draw control, Leslie Escobar extended the Hawks' lead to 5-0 with just under 17 minutes left in the opening half.
The scoring slowed for the Hawks as Barton was able to find the back of the net twice before Alexandria Hammonds scored on a free position to push the lead back to 6-2 at the half.
Second Half:
Barton cut the deficit in half, 6-3, for their only tally in the final period. Goals by Jasmine Latney (free position) and Heather Orell (from Leslie Escobar) pushed the advantage to 8-3.
Briana Gonzalez, Heather Orell, Tashana Barnett, and Alexandria Hammonds concluded the scoring with a goal each to give the Hawks the 12-3 victory.
Barton's goal keeper kept the contest close with 18 total saves including nine in the second half.
