SALEM, VA. – The Chowan Softball team wrapped up the Salem Tournament with a 4-1 record after picking up a 6-2 win over East Stroudsburg on Sunday morning.

Lindsey Stigler paced the Hawks with three hits including a three run home run. Stigler tallied four RBI in the contest.
Kris Neal, Haley Cooper, and Mackenzie Taggart registered two hits each. Taggart and Donya Salman recorded a RBI.
Shannon Buchanan moved to 5-4 in the circle this season tossing 7.0 innings allowing two runs off six hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Haley Cooper and Lindsey Stigler started off the contest with back-to-back singles but a double play would end the threat.
East Stroudsburg broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the second inning as a walk and base hit scored the opening tally.
Chowan responded in the top of the third inning as Kris Neal reached on a two-out single. An error in the inning along with a Lindsey Stigler single allowed Neal to even the contest at 1-all.
The Hawks would take the lead in the fourth inning as Kelsey Sonntag drew a walk to lead off the inning. Donya Salman doubled home Sonntag for the lead.
CU added to their lead in the fifth as Mackenzie Taggart led off with an infield single and swiped second. Haley Cooper picked up a base hit and would trot home as Lindsey Stigler hit a home run to put the Hawks up 5-1.
Three hits in the top of the sixth allowed the Hawks to push the advantage to 6-1. The Warriors cut into the deficit slightly with a run in the sixth.

Chowan will return home to face Mansfield in a non-conference clash on Wednesday, March 14. First pitch is at 1pm.
