CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Basketball team was unable to overcome a cold shooting first half as St. Augustine's defeated the Hawks 75-55 on Tuesday evening inside the Bojangles' Coliseum.

Demetrius Sanders led the Hawks with 11 points. Dino Muminovic chipped in with 10 points along with Tim Hewett's nine points.
The Hawks shot 28.0% (7-25) from the floor in the first half, while the Falcons connected on 65.4% of the shots in the first half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Chowan jumped out to an early 8-3 advantage as Demetrius Sanders connected from the outside and a short jumper. Robert Grubbs add a three-pointer to aid the run.
St. Augustine's countered with a 27-6 run to knot the contest at 12-all. Demetrius Sanders scored all six points for the Hawks during the offensive sputter.
Dino Muminovic knocked down a three-pointer for the first basket in over seven minutes.
St. Augustine's doubled up the Hawks, 37-14 with 2:10 remaining in the opening half.
Dino Muminovic knocked a triple and a jumper as the Falcons led 39-21 at intermission.
Second Half:
Tim Hewett took the lid off the rim to start the second half with a jumper inside the arc. Trevis Buckhanon added a floater in the paint to keep pace with the Falcons early.
Robert Grubbs knocked down a trey followed by Gus Rowland's layup to close the gap to 44-30. The scoring output continued as Dino Muminovic hit a base line jumper. Rowland scored three points for the Hawks to trim the deficit to 46-35.
Tim Hewett knocked down a jumper along with two from the stripe by Brandon Mayhan closed the gap to single-digits 50-41 with 11:23 remaining.
Dino Muminovic and Brandon Mayhan knocked down back-to-back triples to close the gap even more, 53-47, less than 90 seconds later.
The Falcons went on a 20-3 run to push their advantage back to double-figures. Ugljesa Portic knocked down a three-pointer with 1:11 remaining to end the run. Jarvez Ellis went 2-2 from the line on the final possession for the Hawks.
