SALISBURY, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team started fast but couldn't keep the pace as Catawba handed the Hawks a 27-12 defeat on Friday afternoon.

Nick Lavoy tallied a career-high six goals and recorded two assists. Anthony Alfonso recorded a hat-trick with three goals.
Noah Holloway recorded a goal and three assists.
Catawba held the advantage in the face-off circle going 28 of 42.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Nick Lavoy found Anthony Alfonso for the first tally of the contest for the Hawks to knot the match at 1-all.
Nick Lavoy scored off a dish from Alex Clabaugh to put the Hawks up 2-1 before Anthony Alfonso and Nick Lavoy found the back of the net unassisted to lead the Hawks to a 4-1 lead after the opening period.
Second Quarter:
Catawba closed the gap to 4-3 early in the period before Nick Lavoy found Noah Holloway to halt the run.
Over the final nine minutes of the half, the Indians dominated action scoring eight straight goals to lead 11-5 into the halftime break.
Third Quarter:
The Catawba lead would swell to 16-5, before Nick Lavoy tallied a goal from Noah Holloway to trim the deficit to 16-6. LaVoy added another goal off a pass from Anthony Alfonso.
Anthony Alfonso scored an unassisted goal for the final tally of the period for the Hawks.
Catawba led 20-8 after three quarters.
Fourth Quarter:
RJ Foster found the back of the net for his first collegiate goal off a pass from Sean Bates. Catawba pushed the advantage to 27-9 midway through the quarter.
Nick Lavoy scored two more goals while Austin Lee tallied the final goal of the contest.
