MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team dropped a 15-8 non-conference decision against Wingate at home on Saturday afternoon.

Heather Orell netted her first hat-trick of the season with three goals. Jasmine Latney and Misten White produced two goals each. Tashana Barnett tallied the final goal for the Hawks.
Misten White, Alexandria Hammonds, and Victoria Baez-Quiroz recorded an assist in the loss.
Alexandria Hammonds had five caused turnovers, six draw controls and four ground balls on the afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Wingate scored twice in the first five minutes of action to lead 2-0 early before Jasmine Latney tallied the first goal for the Hawks. The Bulldogs scored three straight goals to extend their lead to 5-1 midway through the opening half.
Tashana Barnett ended the run with a free position goal. Back-to-back goals by Misten White on the receiving end from Alexandria Hammonds and Victoria Baez-Quiroz trimmed the deficit to 5-4 with 11:56 left in the half.
Wingate would take a 7-4 advantage into the half.
Second Half:
Following a Bulldog goal, Heather Orell found the back of the net for her first tally of the contest to keep the Hawks close, 8-5.
Jasmine Latney scored her second marker of the contest before the Bulldogs extended their lead to 14-6 following a five goal swing.
Heather Orell scored the final two goals for the Hawks as the Bulldogs took the contest 15-8.
