Chowan enters the contest with a 4-4 overall record after picking up the win against CIAA foe, Claflin, on Saturday, 85-76.
Danielle Weldon leads the team with 14.6 points and 9.0 rebounds per night. Jada Lee and Mariah Coker are scoring in double-figures as well for the Hawks. Coker is coming off her best outing of the season with 23 points on 6-9 shooting.
Jordan Pettaway and Joanne Williams round out the top-five scoring with 8.3 and 7.1 points per game. Williams adds 8.1 rebounds per game to her scoring output.
THWARTING THE BRAVES
UNC Pembroke enters with a 2-3 overall record as a member of the Peach Belt Conference. The Braves are coming off a win against Young Harris on Saturday to snap a three-game losing streak.
Melanie Horne leads the Braves with 15.2 points per game. Tee Graham averages 9.2 points, while Deja McCain leads the team with 6.7 rebounds per outing.
Men's Basketball
HAWKS SOARING HIGH
Chowan extended their winning streak to 6-0 and is ranked in the D2SIDA Atlantic Regional Poll at sixth after their most recent victory over Claflin in CIAA play on Saturday.
Timothy Bing took over the top scoring spot for the Hawks after a career-high 28 points against Claflin. Bing is averaging 17.0 points a game. Demetrius Sanders is scoring at a 16.2 clip with Gus Rowland (12.2), Michael Kelly (12.0), and Robert Grubbs (10.2) in double-figures.
TAMING THE WOLVES
Cheyney (Pa.) is 1-7 on the season and have lost seven straight since their season opening win. In their last five games, the Wolves have been outscored by 31.5 points, scoring 54.5 points and allowing 86.0 points a game.
SERIES MEETINGS
Chowan and UNC Pembroke will face each other for the ninth time in the series with the Braves leading 5-3. It will be the first meeting since 2014, when the Hawks defeated UNCP 69-48 in the Helms Center.
This will be the first meeting for the Hawks against Cheyney (Pa.) since 2008. Chowan took the meeting 81-75.
