MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The regionally ranked Chowan Men's Soccer team was handed their second loss of the season, both in overtime, to Mount Olive in Conference Carolinas action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Hawks outshot Mount Olive 18-9 in the contest, but only 6-5 in shots on target.
Erik Ruiz scored his second goal of the season off an assist from Danny Gallegos.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
After trading a pair of blocked shots, Mount Olive scored the opening goal of the match in the 15th minute.
The Hawks looked for the equalizer in the first half as Djordge Novovic tallied two headers but sailed them both high over the bar. Novovic's third attempt off a corner kick by Mitchell Levi Lewis ricocheted off the post and was cleared out of danger.
Harry Ardron recorded a shot in the 42' but was denied by the Trojan keeper.
Second Half:
Chowan continued to pressure in the attacking third until Danny Gallegos swiped a pass from the UMO defender and found Erik Ruiz on the left side of the box for the goal to equalize the match in the 68'.
Erik Ruiz and Denis Roule posted shots on target but were turned away as the match headed to overtime.
First Overtime:
Elliot Chadderton would turn away the first two attempts in the overtime period before the Trojan attacker stole the ball inside the box for the game winner on the open net.
