PINEVILLE, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Soccer team saw their regular season Conference Carolinas championship title hopes dashed as Belmont Abbey upset the Hawks 2-1 in the regular season finale.

Trevin Myers posted his seventh goal of the season as the only tally in the loss. Mitchell Levi Lewis notched his conference leading 10th assist. Lewis' assist is the most in program history in a single season.
Chowan posted 19 shots in the contest with eight shots on frame. Belmont Abbey registered three shots with two finding the back of the net.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Chowan went on the attack first with a shot by Harry Garstang in the 13', but the attempt sailed wide. Garstang posted another shot in the 20' but was saved by the Crusaders' netminder.
On their first attempt in the contest, Belmont Abbey found the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead in the 44'. Denis Roule registered a shot on goal but was saved.
Second Half:
Lee Wattam and Trevin Myers posted shots early in the half but were denied.
Belmont Abbey would strike on the counter attack to put the Crusaders up 2-0 in the 56'.
Chowan continued to push forward to find the first goal, but attempt after attempt would be blocked or saved.
Mitchell Levi Lewis found Trevin Myers on the left side of the goal on a corner kick in the 83' to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Toby Sims nearly found the equalizer in the 84' but was pushed away for a corner. Two corner attempts were unsuccessful.
Harry Ardron's final minute attempt at the equalizer was blocked.

The Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Tournament begins on Monday, October 29. The Hawks will be the third seed in the tournament and host the sixth seeded Barton. First touch is slated for 2pm.
