SALISBURY, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Soccer team saw their winning streak come to an end as regionally ranked Catawba snuck past the Hawks, 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon on the road.

Chowan's defense kept Catawba at-bay in the match despite the Indians posting 20 shots and 20 corners in the contest.
Catawba scored on a penalty kick in the second half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Catawba went on the attack early grabbing a corner kick in the first minute of the contest. The Chowan defense fought off three shots with Olivia Borer posting a save.
In the 15', Sabrina Henderson registered a shot on frame but was pushed out of play by the Catawba keeper.
Late in the half, Catawba sent three shots towards cage and posted three corner kicks.
Second Half:
Catawba looked to break the scoreless draw in the early stages of the half as Danielle Acree had to make to diving saves to thwart the attack.
In the 50', Sabrina Henderson sent a pass up to Carolina Lucci, the Catawba keeper charged off her line to make the save at the top of the box.
Sabrina Henderson would thread another pass to the streaking Carolina Lucci in the 54'. Lucci snuck the attempt past the keeper but was denied by the post.
Catawba benefited from a foul inside the box in the 57' and converted the penalty kick.
The Hawk's defense continued the strong play to keep the score at 1-0.
