MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Basketball team rebounded from their first CIAA loss of the season to down the visiting Livingstone Blue Bears, 85-71, at home on Monday evening.

Chantel Roberts and Mariah Coker posted their second straight double-double with 22 points each. Roberts hauled in a career-high 17 rebounds. Coker tied a career-high and program best with 11 assists. Roberts tallied a double-double in the first half with 10 points and 10 boards.
Dhyamond Crenshaw tallied 15 points, while Joanne Williams chipped in with 10 points.
Chowan pulled away in the fourth quarter outscoring the Blue Bears 29-16.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Both teams started off fast scoring 14 points each in the opening five minutes of the contest. Dhyamond Crenshaw started off the scoring for the Hawks with a layup off a Mariah Coker assist.
Livingstone would go on an 8-2 run before Chowan countered with a 6-0 run to regain the lead 10-8. Joanne Williams started the small run with a jumper as Chantel Roberts and Dhyamond Crenshaw were on the receiving end of a Mariah Coker pass.
The back-and-forth contest continued as the Hawks fought back with a Mariah Coker jumper and a Joanne Williams basket to take the lead 16-14 at the media timeout.
The Blue Bears would take their largest lead of the quarter, 21-17, with 2:32 left before the Hawks closed out the quarter on a 6-0 run to lead 24-21.
Second Quarter:
Livingstone came out of the break quickly, regaining the lead 27-24. Back-to-back triples by Jordan Pettaway and Mariah Coker handed the lead back to Chowan.
Chantel Roberts connected on two buckets along with baskets by Dhyamond Crenshaw and Mariah Coker to head into the locker room with a 38-34 lead.
Third Quarter:
Dhyamond Crenshaw added a pair of freebies to start the quarter before a quick 7-0 spurt allowed the Blue Bears to take the lead 41-40 just 2:01 into the half.
Danielle Weldon ended the rally with a jumper before Chantel Roberts connected from deep. Dhyamond Crenshaw added three points to push the Hawks' lead to 48-41 midway through the quarter.
The Blue Bears would not go away quietly fighting their way back to knot the game up at 49-all. Livingstone regained the lead at 55-52 with 46 ticks left in the quarter.
Jordan Pettaway and Joanne Williams handed the Hawks the lead back once again heading to the final stanza, 56-55.
Fourth Quarter:
Chowan would not allow the Blue Bears to take the lead in the fourth quarter. Livingstone pulled to within one, 63-62 with 6:10 left in the contest before nine straight points for the Hawks allowed CU to pull away.
Mariah Coker sparked the rally of the next 1:59 with a triple from the top of the arc. Chantel Roberts, Dhyamond Crenshaw and Coker kept the run moving to push the Hawks to a double-digit advantage, 72-62.
The Hawks would keep the double-figure lead as Mariah Coker went 6-8 from the charity stripe down the stretch to preserve the win.
