MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Volleyball team opens the home slate on Tuesday, September 5 against the visiting Barton Bulldogs in a non-conference battle.

HAWKS PROFILE
Chowan will look to bounce back from their opening weekend as they start the season 0-3. Milica Vejnovic leads the team with 22 kills. Sydney Bell and Courtney O'Keefe sit with 16 kills each. Brittany Tschida paces the squad with seven blocks.
This is the home opener for the Hawks before Chowan heads on the road this weekend for the Francis Marion Invitational this weekend.
ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
Barton comes into the match with a 1-3 record after competing in the Embry-Riddle Tournament over the weekend. The Bulldogs picked up their lone win against Lynn in a 3-2 victory.
Miranda Miller and Kaytlin Elkins lead the charge for the Bulldogs with 41 and 40 kills respectively.
THE SERIES HISTORY
Barton leads the overall series 8-6 since 2007. Chowan holds the advantage in the Helms Center 3-2. This is the first meeting in the Helms Center since Sept. 1, 2012. Chowan took the meeting 3-2.
Chowan won the last meeting 3-2 on the road on Sept. 6, 2016. Chowan rallied back from being down 2-0 to take the match with a 15-13 fifth set victory.
