SNOW HILL, NC - The Chowan University women's golf team concluded play at the 2017 Conference Carolina's Women's Golf Championship on Tuesday evening. The Hawks finished in 9th place out of the 10 teams competing in their first season competing in the conference as a program.
Chowan sat in 8th place after totaling a round once score of 332 but fell short on day two carding a 329 to post a two-day team total of 661.
King University took home the Championship title with a 304 on day one and finished with a two-day team total of 606. They will advance to compete in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Tournament on May 2
nd – May 5
th. Limestone College followed just three strokes behind with a 609 two-day team total earning them a 2nd place finish in the Championship. Finishing in 3
rd place was University of Mount Olive who turned in a team score of 304 on Sunday giving them a two-day team total of 616.
Both tallying a two-day total of 144, Nicola Robertson from King University and Meghan at Pfeiffer University tied for 1st place taking home individual medalist honors.
Leading the effort for the Hawks Inecia Roll tied for 16th place in the 52-player field with a two-round score of 156.
Gaby Rivera-Garcia shot a 83 in the second round, scoring a two-day total of 165 for the Hawks.
Virginia Lane shaved six strokes off her round one score (86) to card a 166 in the Championship. Rivera-Garcia and Lane concluded play at the Conference Carolina's Championship with 35 and 36 place respectively.
L'leah Laing tied for 44th place after carding a 87 in both rounds for a two-day total of 174. Also competing for the Blue and White,
Reina Pozo finished in 53
th place. She carded 96 in the opening round, and a 95 in the final day of play for a total of 191.
The Hawks wrapped up their 2017 season campaign at the conclusion of the tournament.
