SNOW HILL, NC- The Chowan University women's golf team competed in the opening round of the 2017 Conference Carolina's Championship on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks carded a 332 team total to finish for eighth place out of the ten teams competing. King University and University of Mount Olive hold a one stroke lead after turning in a team score of 304 on Sunday. Limestone College follows closely in third place with a 305 first round total.
CU's
Inecia Rolle lead the effort for the Hawks with a 77 in the first round of play. Rolle currently sits tied for 12
th individually.
Gaby Rivera-Garcia shot a 82 for Chowan to sit in 30
th after day one, while
Virginia Lane sits tied for 42
nd with a round one score of 86.
L'leah Laing carded a 87 on Sunday to sit tied for 46
th for the Blue and White. Freshman
Reina Pozo, also competed and totaled a 96 for the first round of play.
Monday features the second round of play at the 2017 Conference Carolina's Women's Golf Championship. Tee time is slated for 9:00am.
