PINEHURST, NC-The Chowan University women's golf team stands in second place out of the twelve teams competing in opening day of play at the Brown Golf Intercollegiate on Friday afternoon. The Hawks carded a 344 in the first round just seven strokes behind the leading team, West Chester University (337) on Pines Course that is a par-72 and plays to 5,802 yards.
Franklin Pierce University sits in third place with a total score of 345, while Mercyhurst University posted a team score of 347 to clinch fourth place.
Through the first 18 holes,
Inecia Rolle led the field of 65 with a round-low of 75 on the day. Teammate
Virginia Lane carded a 85 for the Hawks and sits tied for 11th place.
Gaby Rivera-Garcia tied for 22nd with a score of 88 while,
Reina Pozo shot a 96 for Chowan in the first round.
Chelsea Rose also competed for the Hawks and finished the round with a 139.
The Hawks conclude play of the Brown Golf Intercollegiate on Saturday morning with a tee time of 9am.
