Box Score BOWIE, MD-The Chowan University women's basketball team suffered a 50-47 setback to Bowie State University on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks dropped to a 15-9 overall on the season and 8-6 in conference play. Bowie State moves to a 18-6 on the season and 5-3 in the league.
The Hawks were slow to start offensively in the game while Bowie State opened the contest with a 10-0 run. CU's
Chantel Roberts opened the scoring for Chowan after hitting two free throws half way through the first quarter to cut the Bulldog lead to 10-2.
The Hawks battled to get back in the game with a good tip in by
Dominique Weldon, closing the gap 19-23 at the 2:09 mark of the second quarter.
Chowan battled in the final minutes but their comeback fell short, falling 50-47 for their third Divisional loss.
Leading for Chowan
Jada Lee who posted 11 points, two assists and two rebounds in the setback.
Shaikeyla Jordan and
Courtni Williams each chipped in six points for Chowan. Â
Jordan Payne had a team high of 15 rebounds for the Hawks.
For Bowie State Kiara Colston and Ashley Jennings each recorded 11 points in the victory. Kyaja Williams grabbed seven boards and six steals for the Bulldogs.
The Hawks travel to Lincoln, PA on Feb 15
th for a match up against The Lincoln University. Game time slated for 5:30pm.
