Soccer Travels To King For League Tilt

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's and Women's Soccer teams will travel to an unfamiliar place as the Hawks face King (Tenn.) on the road in Bristol, Tenn. for the first time in program history.

Women's Soccer

HAWKS PROFILE
Chowan comes into the contest with a 5-1-2 overall record and 3-1-1 in Conference Carolinas play.  The Hawks are coming off a 5-0 shutout victory over non-conference foe Lincoln (Pa.) on Wednesday afternoon.

Chowan sits in a tie for second place in the league standings with 11 points along with Belmont Abbey.  The Hawks are led by freshman striker, Carolina Lucci, how has found the back of the net 10 times this season.  Olivia Borer, junior netminder, has allowed five goals this season and has recorded six shutouts.  Both lead the Conference Carolinas in respective categories.

The Hawks were picked to finish near the bottom of the league table in the preseason poll.

ABOUT THE TORNADO
King enters the contest with a 1-8-1 overall record and 1-5-0 in league play.  The Tornado was picked to finish fifth in the league's preseason poll.  King has not won a match in nearly a month as the Tornado picked up their lone win of the season on September 9 against Erskine in a 1-0 victory.

The Tornado offense has been absent this season scoring four goals (0.40 goals per game) and has allowed 29 goals (2.84 per game).

Catherine Walsh leads the Tornado offense with two goals.

Men's Soccer

HAWKS PROFILE
Chowan improved their United Soccer Coaches Association ranking last week moving up to #7 in the SE Regional Poll.  The Hawks are 5-2-2 on the season and 1-1-2 in league play.  Chowan is coming off a come from behind win at home against non-conference foe Concord on Wednesday afternoon.

The Hawks have shared the offense this season as four players have three goals each as Terell Williamson, Lee Wattam, Denis Roule and Josh Baker has tallied three each.  Williamson leads the team with nine points as the senior has added three assists to his total.

CU sits towards the bottom of the league standings playing three of the top five teams of the league standings.

ABOUT THE TORNADO
King is in search of their first Conference Carolinas win of the season sitting at 0-6-0 in league play and 2-7-1 overall.  The Tornado started off the season 2-1-0 but has gone 0-6-1 in the past month.

The Tornado are led by Carlos Saavedra with 13 points scoring five goals and three assists on the season.  King has allowed 2.01 goals per game while scoring only 1.24 goals.
