Box Score CHARLOTTE, NC - The Chowan University women's basketball program dropped it's first CIAA game of the season after falling to Johnson C. Smith University 82-71 in CIAA cross divisional action on Thursday night. A strong offensive second half for the Lady Golden Bulls helped propel them past the Hawks. Chowan falls to 10-4 on the year and 3-1 in league play while Johnson C. Smith University moves to 9-4 overall and 2-1 in CIAA play.
The Hawks got 19 points from senior guard
Courtni Williams in the game. Williams hit 3-3 from beyond the three point arch and went 6-12 from the floor in the game.
Chantel Roberts and
Jordan Payne each scored 10 points in the loss.
The Hawks hit 23 of 60 shots taken in the game, including hitting nine three balls. Sophomore guard
Jada Lee hit 3-4 from three point land in the game. The Golden Bulls won the battle under the baskets, out rebounding the Hawks 47 to 39 in the game.
For Johnson C. Smith, Blair Thomas hit for a game-high 24 points after going 7-7 from the floor and 7-9 from the charity stripe.
