MURFREESBORO, NC - The Chowan University men's and women's basketball teams will travel to Virginia Union University on Saturday, January 28th. The women's squad enters Saturday's match up at 13-6 overall and 6-3 in the CIAA. They currently sit in second place behind #1 in the CIAA North and the #2 nationally ranked team in the country, Virginia Union. The Lady Panthers are a perfect 18-0 overall and 9-0 in the CIAA. Chowan is led by senior forward Jordan Payne who averageds15.8 points a game and 10.8 rebounds a game. She is ranked 4th in the CIAA in scoring.The Lady Panthers are led by Brittany Jackson who nets 16.4 points a game. The Lady Panthers are the #1 ranked team in the NCAA Atlantic Region and the #2 team in the nation in the NCAA D2 polls. 

The men's basketball team enters the game in 3rd place in the CIAA North behind #2 Virginia Union University. The Hawks are currently 13-5 overall and 6-3 in league play while the Panthers are 16-5 overall and 8-1 in the league play. For Chowan, Jeremy Smith is ranked 5th in the CIAA in scoring at 16.6 points a game. VUU's Ray Anderson sits atop of the CIAA stat rankings for points with 18.1 per outing.
