Box Score HARTSVILLE, SC- The Chowan University men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Coker College on Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks fall to 1-2 on the season with the loss while the Cobras move to 1-0-1 on the year with the victory.
Chowan and Coker battled through a scoreless first half. Less than one minute into the second half, a mishandled shot by Hawks' goalie led to a goal by Grant Sicard to push the Cobras ahead 1-0. Coker quickly extended the lead to 2-0 less than one minute later when Aladdin Elfares found the back of the net.
Down but not out, the Hawks answered back in the 48
th minute of play when
Jordan Radisavljevic sent
Lee Wattam's corner kick past Coker's keeper to put the Hawks on the board. Chowan was unable to score again in the remainder of the contest, resulting in the 2-1 setback.
The Hawks recorded 14 shots over the course of the contest led by
Terell Williamson with four shots. Radisavljevic and
Denis Roule each accounted for three shots in the loss.
Carlos Ramirez made six saves in goal for the Chowan Blue and White.
Coker totaled 10 shots on Wednesday. Elfares and Jacob Simonis both notched two shots for Coker. Michael Ritterbeck made nine saves for the Cobras in the win.
Chowan returns to action on Sunday as the Hawks travel to take on Seton Hill. Game time is slated for 12pm.
