SNOW HILL, NC - The Chowan University women's golf team launched their 2016 season on Monday afternoon competing in the Cutter Creek Invitational. The Hawks completed the day with a first round team score of 352 and finished in 9th place out of the 11 teams competing in the tournament.
UNC Pembroke stands in first place after the opening round with a team score of 310. Ashlii Thompson led the Braves and finished the day in first place individually with a score of 71.
In her debut appearance with the Hawks,
Inecia Rolle paced Chowan with a score of 80 in the first round, tying for 10th place in the 60 player field.Â
Virginia Lane shot an 82 finishing tied for 20th place on the afternoon followed by
Gaby Rivera-Garcia who carded an 87 and tied for 39th place in the opening round.Â
L'leah Laing and
Chelsea Rose also competed in the season opener. Laing finished in 55th place after shooting a 103, followed by Rose who carded a 122.
The second round of play continues on Tuesday at Cutter Creek Golf Course in Snow Hill, North Carolina.
