HARRISONBURG, VA- The Chowan University women's golf team finished in second place at the Bridgewater Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks posted a team score of 329, a four shot improvement from their first day score (333) to earn a second place finish out of eight competing teams. Bridgewater College took home first place team honors with a two-day score of 620. The Hawks finished with a two-day team score of 662, just two strokes ahead of Eastern University which posted a 664.
Christina Herbert earned individual medalist honors with a two-day score of 145. She carded a 74 in the opening round and shot a 71 on Sunday.
Inecia Rolle paced the Hawks with a second round score of 76 after posting a 78 in the first round of competition. Rolle ended the tournament in a four-way tie for third place and earned All-Tournament honors for the Chowan Blue and White.
Virginia Lane carded an 80 in both the first and second round, which was good for a two-day score of 160 and 12
th place individual finish.
Gaby Rivera-Garcia finished just three strokes behind Lane with a two-day score of 163. After carding an 82 in the opening round, Rivera-Garcia bounced back to shoot an 81 in the final day of play and placed 15
th individually.
L'leah Laing finished in 30
th place in the 55 player field. Laing posted a two-day score of 185 with a 93 on Saturday and 92 on Sunday.
Chelsea Rose also competed for Chowan. She shot a 118 on Saturday and followed-up with a score of 121 on Sunday.
Randolph-Macon finished in fourth place with a two-day team score of 673. Marymount (VA) posted a team score of 693, resulting in a fifth place team finish. Greensboro followed in sixth place with a team score of 715 followed by Hollins University in seventh place (753), and Shenandoah (760) in eighth place.
The Hawks return to action on October 2
nd when Chowan travels to compete in the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate Tournament.
