SPARTANBURG, SC - The Chowan University women's golf team competed in the first round of the Converse Fall Invitational on Monday afternoon. The Hawks completed the first day of play with a team score of 346 and finished in eighth place out of the eight teams competing in the tournament.
USC Beaufort stands in first place after the opening round with a team score of 297. Franzi Knoetsch led the Sand Sharks and finished in first place overall with two other golfers from USC Beaufort finishing in the top five.
Virginia Lane paced the Hawks with a score of 83 in the first round and finished tied for 16th place in the 43 player field.
Inecia Rolle carded an 85 finishing tied for 22nd place on the afternoon followed by
L'leah Laing who shot an 86 and finished tied for 25th place in the opening round.
Gaby Rivera-Garcia ended the day tied for 36th place with a score 92 and
Chelsea Rose also represented the Hawks in competition on Monday's round of play.
The second round of play continues on Tuesday at Carolina Country Club.
