Box Score MURFREESBORO- The visiting Bowie State University Bulldogs held off a late run by the Hawks to take home a 21-14 win against the Chowan University football team on Thursday night. Bowie State moves to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in CIAA play with the victory. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Hawks and was Chowan's first league loss of the season. The Hawks move to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in CIAA play after the setback.

The Hawks tallied 370 offensive yards in the contest while holding the Bulldogs to 289.
Randall Dixon completed 12-27 pass attempts for 195 yards for Chowan. He threw two touchdown passes in the loss.
Ryan Nolan tallied two receptions on the evening for 49 yards and one touchdown while
Kaine Lombard notched three receptions for 40 yards.
Tyree Lee recorded 158 yards on 30 carries.
Defensively,
Demetrius Newberry led the effort with eight tackles (three solo, five assisted) and one sack.
Randy Allen Jr. followed with seven stops (four solo, three assisted).
Amir Hall completed 18-37 pass attempts for 151 yards and two touchdowns on Thursday. Nyme Manns notched 12 receptions for 86 yards while Robert Chessons aided the effort with 54 yards on 10 carries. Taylor Johnson paced the Bulldogs defensively with eight tackles (three solo, five assisted).
Bowie State got on the board first at the 6:54 mark in the first quarter. Hall connected with Jordan Garrison on a 10-yard pass, and Gene Carson made good on the point after attempt to give the Bulldogs an early 7-0 jump. The Bulldogs added a score at the end of the first quarter using Abrams' four-yard touchdown run. Carson's point after attempt lifted Bowie State ahead 14-0.
With 5:14 on the clock in the second quarter, Deron Smith hauled in a 20-yard touchdown pass to cap a 12 play, 79-yard drive. Carson made good on the point after attempt to leave Chowan trailing 21-0. Down but not out, the Hawks regrouped with 1:16 on the clock.
Calvin Calhoun intercepted Hall's pass at the Bowie State 40-yardline to shift the momentum in favor of the Hawks. After a one-yard rush by Lee, Dixon heaved a 39-yard touchdown pass to Nolan to end the scoring drought.
Christopher Donovan made good on the point after attempt to make the score 21-7 heading into the halftime break.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Hawks capitalized on a quick, 30-second scoring drive to put the pressure on Bowie State. With 6:20 left in the game, Dixon connected with
Torry Baker on a 36-yard touchdown pass, and Donovan's point after attempt was good, putting the Hawks back within striking distance.
Chowan failed to score in their final drive of the game, resulting in the 21-14 win for Bowie State.
The Hawks return to action on October 15
th as Chowan plays host to Virginia Union University. Kick-off is slated for 1:00pm. The contest marks the final game in a three-game homestand for the Hawks.
