Box Score ATHENS, WV- The Chowan University men's soccer team came up short in a 2-1 road game against Concord University on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks move to 4-3-1 on the season while the Mountain Lions improve to 3-4 on the year with the victory. Chowan got on the board first with a goal in the first period by
Terell Williamson, but were outscored 2-0 in the second period.
The Hawks tallied ten shots over the course of the contest; four of which were on goal. Williamson accounted for five of Chowan's ten shots, with four on goal, while
Jason Bradbury added four shots in the setback.
Jordan Radisavljevic added one shot in the contest.
Concord had seven players account for 12 shots on Sunday, with a total of four shots on goal. Max Simpson and Alex Rhodes led the way for the Mountain Lions with three shots and one goal apiece in the victory.
Williamson put the Hawks on the board in the 20
th minute of play when he found the back of the net using
Dylan Helm's assist.
After halftime, the momentum shifted in favor of the Mountain Lions. Rhodes scored first for Concord in the 63
rd minute of play with an unassisted goal from 30-yards out. Simpson used Rhodes' assist just four minutes later and sent the ball into the lower right hand corner of the net to give the Mountain Lions all they would need to secure the 2-1 victory.
Marco Lujan made two saves in-goal for the Hawks in the loss while Logan Powell made three saves for Concord.
The Hawks return to action on October 3
rd when they travel to take on Belmont Abbey College. Game time is slated for 3:00pm.
