Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University women's soccer team dropped a 6-0 decision to the visiting Valkyries of Converse College on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks slip to 1-5 on the season while the Valkyries advance to a 4-4 record.

Olivia Borer faced 29 shots by Converse in the setback, 19 of which were on goal. Chowan recorded no shots on goal.
Darby Boyd scored three goals in the win for Converse. Boyd totaled five shots on goal on Saturday followed by Anyah Preston with one shot on goal which made it in for a goal high over the goalie's head and out of reach. Georgia Jones of Converse also made a goal after having two shots on goal. Claudia Coffin added three shots on goal, while Ella Ritchie and Hallie Lycans each had two shots on goal. Chipping in one shot on goal each were Mariah Elliott and Nicole Doolittle.
Ghani tallied four saves in the first period for the Chowan Blue and White while Borer hauled in nine saves after halftime.
The Valkyries quickly took control of the game. Elliott's feed to Boyd gave Converse a quick 1-0 advantage less than two minutes into the contest. Chowan held the Valkyries at bay until the 35th minute when Converse scored again as Boyd found the back of the net, sending the ball high into the right corner using an assist from Elliott. The third goal in the first half came from Preston who made an unassisted shot up and out of reach of Chowan's goalie and into the back of the net.
With a 3-0 lead after halftime, Jones got a close shot past Borer in the 55th minute of play, resulting in an unassisted goal and 4-0 advantage for the Valkyries. The fifth goal for Converse came as a passing shot ricocheted off of a Chowan player for an own goal directly into the net. Boyd put the game away for Converse in the 61st minute when she made a shot only a few feet from the goal which was out of Borer's reach.
The Hawks return to action on Wednesday, September 30th when they travel to Pennsylvania to play The Lincoln University. Match time is slated for 4:00pm.
