Box Score FLORENCE, SC- The Chowan University men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Francis Marion University on Thursday evening. Both teams post a 4-2-1 record after Thursday's contest.
The Patriots tallied 14 shots in the win while holding the Hawks to six shots over the course of the competition.
Jason Bradbury tallied three shots for Chowan.
Dylan Helm followed with two shots and accounted for the lone shot on goal for the Hawks in the setback while
Christian Funes also had one shot in the contest. Harrison Smith paced Francis Marion with four shots while seven other Patriots tallied one or more shots during Thursday's game.
Marco Lujan made three saves in goal for the Hawks while Jonathan Mannes made one save for the Patriots.
Francis Marion got on the board in the 9
th minute of play when David Sheridan's header found the back of the net off of Sven Ricke's free kick. Chowan held the Patriots at-bay through the remainder of the first period but trailed 1-0 heading into halftime.
The Patriots struck again in the 63
rd minute of play when Anton Jonsson's service allowed Levin Sandmann to score. Holding a 2-0 advantage in the 70
th minute of play, Ricke's through ball allowed Jonsson to beat Lujan one-on-one and push Francis Marion ahead 3-0. The Hawks were unable to overcome the deficit and suffered the 3-0 setback.
The Hawks look to recover on September 27
th when they travel to Athens, West Virginia to take on Concord University. Game time is slated for 12:00pm.
