Box Score BREVARD, NC- The Chowan University women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision on the road to Brevard College on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks battled through a scoreless first period before surrendering three unanswered goals after halftime to take the loss. Chowan moves to 1-4 on the year while the Tornados improve to 1-1-1 on the season with the victory.
Brevard dominated the momentum of the contest with 27 total shots by nine different. Carolina David led the effort for Brevard with six total shots, two on goal, followed by Shannon Baya with four shots, three of which were on frame. The Tornados' defense prevented the Hawks from taking a single shot over the course of the competition.
After a scoreless first period, Sarah Fonger ended the scoring drought for Brevard when she found the back of the net off a rebound in the 57
th minute of play. Hinako Omizu was credited with the assist on the play. In the 72
nd minute, Shannon Bava connected with Caroline David who sent the ball past
Marissa Ghani's reach. A Chowan foul in the 75
th minute resulted in a penalty kick for Brevard. Bava capitalized on the scoring opportunity, giving Brevard all they would need to secure the 3-0 victory.
Ghani made ten saves in goal for the Hawks over the course of the competition. She tallied one save in the first period and accounted for nine stops after halftime. Jocelyn Springer and Elise Youmans teamed up to earn the shutout win in goal for Brevard.

nd when they travel to take on Columbia College. Match time is slated for 3:30pm.
