Box Score SLIPPERY ROCK, PA- The Chowan University women's basketball team dropped a 64-62 decision against Slippery Rock University on Saturday evening.  The Hawks even their record to 1-1 on the year while the Rock improves to 2-0.

Alisha Mobley paced the Hawks with 19 points and 10 rebounds (seven offensive, three defensive) while Jada Lee notched 14 points and six rebounds (two offensive, four defensive).  Danielle Weldon added 10 points for the Chowan Blue and White in the setback. 

Erica Aiello and Lexi Carpenter led the effort for Slippery Rock with 14 points apiece while Ciara Patterson added nine points in the victory. Carpenter grabbed a team-high five rebounds (five defensive). 

Lee opened the contest with a three pointer for the Hawks, but the Rock answered with a 6-0 run to take the lead before running away with a 17-7 advantage at the end of the first quarter. After trailing by ten or more points for the majority of the second quarter, Chowan battled back to pull with eight point (33-25) heading into halftime. 

Trailing 42-32 at the 6:31 mark, the Hawks persistently fought to overcome the deficit and pieced together a 12-3 run to make the score 45-44 with 2:08 left in the third quarter.  Chowan stayed within striking distance but was not able to take the lead in the remainder of the contest. 

Payne opened the fourth quarter with a layup to make the score 50-48.  Chowan and Slippery Rock exchanged baskets through the before a free throw by Mobley knotted the score 53-53 at the 5:34 mark.  With the score tied 57-57, Carpenter hit a layup and drained a free throw to push the Rock ahead 60-57 with 1:14 left to play. 

Slippery Rock used a free throw by Audrey Stapleton with nine seconds left in the contest to take a 63-59 lead.  Mobley answered for the Hawks with a three pointer on the next play to make it a one point game (63-62), but the late rally was not enough as Patterson's free throw confirmed the 64-62 win for Slippery Rock. 

Chowan returns to action on November 18^th when the Hawks travel to compete against Shepherd University.  Tip-off is slated for 5:30pm.
