Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University women's basketball team stunned the Lady Lions of The Lincoln University in a 62-55 overtime victory on Wednesday evening.  The Hawks improve to 10-10 on the season and 6-4 in league play after clinching their second CIAA Northern Division victory in as many games.  The Lady Lions slip to 14-5 on the year and 6-3 in the league.  Wednesday's contest was Lincoln's first divisional setback of the season.

Alisha Mobley led all players in the contest with 22 points for the Blue and White.  She also hauled in a game-high 16 rebounds (eight offensive, eight defensive).  Rachel Gostomski and Cournti Williams each tallied 12 points each in the win followed by Naima Harrington with 10 points.  Dhyamond Crenshaw notched 10 rebounds (five offensive, five defensive) in the victory.

Zephrah Pam paced the Lady Lions with 17 points while Mieana Gaines and Amani Clark tallied eight points apiece in the setback.

The Lady Lions struck first in the contest with a bucket by Gaines.  Despite keeping the score close early in the half, Lincoln built their lead to 12 points (22-10) with 7:32 remaining before halftime.  Down but not out, Chowan rallied to orchestrate a 9-1 run capped by Williams' jumper at the 4:41 mark.  The Lady Lions held on to a 26-22 lead heading into halftime.

The Hawks came out of the halftime break with a valiant effort to gain control of the momentum.  Mobley's layup followed by a jumper by Harrington knotted the score 26-26 with 16:30 left in the contest.  Back-to-back three-pointers by Lincoln squandered Chowan's rally until the 7:37 mark when Gostomski drained a three-pointer to knot the score 40-40.  Chowan clung to the advantage until the final minutes of regulation play

With the Hawks leading 46-41, the Lions pulled together a 5-0 run to tie the score 46-46 with 3:15 on the clock.  Both teams exchanged free throws and were forced to settle for an overtime period with the score knotted 51-51.

The overtime period was all about the Hawks as Chowan quickly went to work on a 7-0 run.  The Lady Lions were unable to recover from the deficit and dropped the 62-55 decision.

The Hawks return to action on Saturday when they travel to Virginia Union for a CIAA Northern Division match-up.  Tip-off is slated for 2:00pm.
