Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University women's basketball team picked up a 69-47 victory over the visiting Lady Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon in the Helms Center.  The CIAA Northern Division win moves the Hawks to 9-10 overall and 5-4 in CIAA while the Lady Bulldogs slip to 8-10 on the season and 3-6 in the league.  The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Blue and White.

RyJae Anderson and Dhyamond Crenshaw each tallied 15 points in the win for the Hawks.  Jordan Payne notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds (two offensive, eight defensive) while Summer Curtis and Naima Harrington each chipped in eight points apiece. 

Ty-Nita Baker led all players on the contest with 16 points for Bowie State.  Donia Naylor followed with 14 points and hauled in a team-high seven rebounds (three offensive, four defensive). 

The Hawks came out on a mission in the first half as they opened the contest with a 10-0 run capped by a jumper by Chantel Roberts. Chowan never looked back from that point forward and held the Lady Bulldogs to a mere four points until the 7:57 mark in the first half.  Payne's basket for the Hawks with 7:11 remaining before halftime handed Chowan a 22 point lead (28-6); their largest of the half.  Bowie State was unable to respond and headed into the locker room at halftime trailing 34-14. 

Chowan maintained a lead of 11 or more points for the entire second half before closing out the game with the 69-47 victory.  The Hawks had nine different players score in the win and their bench accounted for 31 of the team's 69 points. 

Chowan looks to build on the momentum in their next outing.  The Hawks host The Lincoln University in a CIAA Northern Division match-up on January 28^th.  Tip-off is slated for 5:30pm in the Helms Center.
