Box Score SALISBURY, NC - The Chowan University women's basketball team saw a four game win streak come to an end on Monday evening in a 72-46 loss to Livingstone College. The Hawks even their record to 8-8 overall and move to 4-2 in CIAA play with the setback. The Lady Blue Bears remain perfect on the season with a 15-0 overall record and 6-0 mark in league play.
Rachel Gostomski paced the Hawks with 13 points in the loss.
Dhyamond Crenshaw scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds (two offensive, five defensive) while
Naima Harrington added eight points in the setback.
Kyra Crosby led all players in the game with 16 points followed by Amber Curtis with 12 points. Crosby notched a game-high nine rebounds (five offensive, four defensive) and Curtis grabbed eight rebounds (five offensive, three defensive) for Livingstone.
Chantel Roberts opened the contest with a basket for Chowan. Gostomski's jumper on the Hawks' next possession put Chowan ahead 4-0. Curtis answered with a layup, steal and basket for the Lady Blue Bears to knot the score. From there, Livingstone took control and pulled away on a 15-2 run resulting in a 19-6 lead at the 13:19 mark. Chowan pulled with nine points (19-10) with 11:02 remaining in the first half but that was as close as the Hawks would get as the Lady Blue Bears headed into halftime with a 30-19 advantage.
The Hawks battled to regain some momentum in the second half. Gostomski's three-pointer at the 17:06 mark cut the deficit to nine points (34-25) once more, but Chowan was unable to pull any closer for the remainder of the contest. The Lady Blue Bears secured the convincing victory with a layup by Sophie Lepzem.
Chowan returns to action on Saturday when they host CIAA Northern Division rival Elizabeth City State University. Tip-off is slated for 2:00pm in the Helms Center.
