PETERSBURG, VA- The Chowan University men's cross country team competed in the Virginia State University Trojan Invitational on Friday evening. The Hawks finished in fourth place out of the four teams that competed in the meet. Chowan earned a team score of 97.
Virginia Union took home first place honors. The Panthers earned a team score of 17 and had four out of their five scoring runners place in the top five. Virginia State finished in second place followed by Washington Adventist in third place.
Tristan Martin finished in first place for the Hawks and in 15
th place overall with a time of 34:41.
Jerrell Ralph,
Robert Williams,
Danilo Galovic, and
Phillip Hempfield finished in 19
th, 20
th, 21
st, and 22
nd place overall respectively. Ralph trekked the 8k course in 39:03, followed by Williams, who crossed the finish line at 41:30. Galovic finished just behind Williams at the 41:33 mark. Hempfield rounded out the scoring for the Hawks with a time of 44:07.
The Hawks are slated to compete at the HBCU Challenge on October 4
th in Cary, North Carolina.
