Box Score MORROW, GA- The Chowan University women's basketball team suffered a 75-57 setback to the University of North Georgia on Friday evening. The Hawks slip to 0-6 on the year with the loss while the Nighthawks improve to 7-1 with the win.
Alisha Mobley led all players in the game with 24 points for Chowan while
Rachel Gostomski added 12 points.
Jordan Payne grabbed eight rebounds for the Hawks (three offensive, five defensive) while
Chantel Roberts notched six boards (six offensive).
A trio of Nighthawks scored double digit points in Friday's victory. Stephanie Huffman paced North Georgia with 19 points followed by Kelsey Hutchins with 18 points. Lauren Poinds scored 13 points in the win. Hutchins notched a team-high nine rebounds (four offensive, five defensive).
Roberts scored first in the contest to hand the Hawks a 2-0 lead at the start of the contest but a 10-0 run by North Georgia resulted in a 12-2 deficit for Chowan at the 13:36 mark. The Hawks battled to pull within four points (12-8) at the 9:39 mark with a layup by Roberts but trailed 31-22 heading into halftime.
Chowan was unable to battle back in the second half. The Hawks trailed by double-digit points for the remainder of the contest and by as many as 20 points as late as the 4:11 mark.
Chowan looks to recover on Saturday when they take on Clayton State University at 3:30pm.
