Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University women's basketball team earned a hard fought 76-58 win over Shepherd University on Wednesday evening. The win moves the Hawks to 3-6 on the season while the Rams slide to 7-3 on the year in the setback.

Alisha Mobley led all players in the game with 18 points and hauled in 10 rebounds (five offensive, five defensive) in her double-double performance. Summer Curtis notched a double-double for the Hawks as well with 10 points and 14 rebounds (seven offensive, seven defensive). Rachel Gostomski tallied 16 points in the victory and Jordan Payne added seven points and 11 rebounds (three offensive, eight defensive).

Rachel Johnson led the effort for Shepherd with 14 points followed by Cara Mason with nine points.

The first half featured two teams battling intensely for the momentum. The Hawks got on the board first with a jumper by Gostomski on their first possession, but from there it was a possession-by-possession fight. The half featured nine ties and four lead changes before the Hawks snuck away with a 32-30 lead heading into halftime.

With the score tied 36-36 at the 16:34 mark, a made free throw by Mobley led to a 10-0 run for the Hawks. Chowan refused to surrender the momentum in the remainder of the contest and led by double-digit points for the rest of the game, aside from one occasion (52-43, 10:51 mark).The Hawks closed out the game with the 76-58 victory.

Chowan returns to action on Saturday when they host the University of Charleston. Tip-off is slated for 2:00pm in the Helms Center.
