Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to the Columbia College Fighting Koalas on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks fall to 1-14 on the season with the loss while the Fighting Koalas improve to 8-7 on the year.
Felice Hewitt put the Hawks on the board in the 14
th minute of play. She used
Leslie Maloney's assist to send the ball out of Morgan McCray's reach.
Trailing 1-0 after halftime, Columbia came alive to score four unanswered goals to earn the win.
Ashley Tanner scored a goal two minutes into the second half using Caitlin McDonald's assist to knot the contest 1-1. She scored again in the 66
th minute to give the Fighting Koalas a 2-1 advantage. Amber Tanner was credited with the assist on the play.
Amber Tanner found the back of the net twice in the remainder of the contest; once using McDonald's assist, and once from Peyton Lee's assist.
The Hawks were outshot 39-9 in the contest.
Marissa Ghani made 15 saves in the setback while McCray and Kat Yahnke combined for four saves for Columbia.
Chowan returns to action on October 28
th when they take on Barton College. The Hawks return home on October 29
th for their final home game of the season. First touch is slated for2:30pm at Hawks Field.
