MECHANICSVILLE, VA- The Chowan University men's cross country team competed in the Cross Country Only National Invitational on Friday morning. The Hawks were the only NCAA Division II team to compete in the meet.
The host Richmond Spiders earned first place NCAA Division I honors with a team score of 31. Tim Gruber finished in first place after trekking the course in 24:56. Marshall finished in second place with a team score of 54. Mercer's team score of 81 was good for third place leaving Radford in fourth place with an 84 team score. Longwood rounded out the scoring in the Division I field with a team score of 102.
Tristan Martin led the effort for the Blue and White. He trekked the 8k course in 34:25 followed by
Sasha Kirsanov who crossed the finish line at the 38:55 mark.
Jerrell Ralph finished in third place for the Hawks with a time of 39:49.
Robert Williams and
Phillip Hempfield earned fourth and fifth place team finishes, respectively. Williams crossed the line in 40:05 while Hempfield finished at the 40:37 mark.
Danilo Galovic competed in the meet for the Hawks as well. He completed the 8k course in 41:25. Complete results are available
