Newberry Downs Chowan

Paul Kamara scored a goal for the Hawks on Tuesday.
Box Score NEWBERRY, SC- The Chowan University men's soccer dropped a 4-1 decision to the Newberry College Wolves on Tuesday afternoon.  The Hawks move to 7-5 on the year with the setback while the Wolves improve to 5-7-1 with the victory.

Newberry had 27 shots in the contest in comparison to 10 by Chowan.

After a silent first half, the Wolves scored four answered goals in the second half to take control of the momentum.  The Hawks answered back with three minutes left in the contest but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.

A header by Lucas Ferreira in the 49th minute gave the Wolves a 1-0 edge.  A Hawk foul in the 75th minute of the contest gave the Wolves a penalty kick opportunity.  Ferreira made good on the opportunity, pushing Newberry's lead to 2-0.  Sterling Wendt's pass in the 75th minute allowed Ferreira to find the back of the net once more for the Wolves.
With a 3-0 lead after the hat trick, Paul Marie's chip from 15-yards out resulted in a commanding lead for Newberry in the 86th minute.  The Hawks answered back on their next possession when Paul Kamara used a rebound to send the ball into the far post for the Blue and White.

Chowan looks to recover on October 17th when they travel to Washington Adventist University.  Game time is slated for 2:00pm.
