Box Score CARY, NC- The Chowan University women's soccer team snapped an 11 game losing streak on Friday evening with a 2-1 victory over William Peace University. The Hawks and Pacers were tied 1-1 heading into the last minute of play until
Samantha Persinger's goal with 21 seconds left gave Chowan the win.
Karen Keteltas put the Hawks on the board in the 39
th minute of play when she scored off of
Emily Cross' assist. Chowan kept the 1-0 lead through halftime. The Pacers struck back in the 62
nd minute of the contest when Mercedez Sanderson found Anna Tew who scored for William Peace.
Persinger's goal in the last minute of play lifted the Hawks past the Pacers and gave Chowan their first win of the season.
Canesha Bradford was credited with the assist. Keeper
Jennifer Harvell made eight saves in goal for the Hawks.
The Hawks move to 1-11 on the year and travel to Lincoln (PA) on Sunday to take on the Lady Lions. Game time is slated for 12:00pm.
