MURFREESBORO – The Chowan Men's and Women's Basketball squads will continue their home stand tonight as they host Bowie State University in pivotal CIAA North matchups. The women will tip-off at 5:30pm, with the men to follow at 7:30pm in the Helms Center. The Lady Bulldogs of Bowie State come to town tied for first place in the CIAA North with the Hawks at 5-1. The winner of tonight's game will hold sole possession of first place as the conference race winds down. Chowan is coming off their first division loss of the season, a 71-62 loss to Virginia State University.
Sophomore
Talaya Lynch has been playing well of late, and scored a game high 17 points in the loss. Lynch is tied for second in the conference in three point field goals made per game with 1.9. Two-time CIAA Player of the Week
Ransheda Jennings currently sits second in the CIAA averaging 16.6 points per contest and first in steals per game (2.8). Senior
Najah Harris is third in the CIAA in free throw percentage, knocking down a stellar 80.3% from the line.
The Chowan men enter tonight's contest on a two game win streak, and have moved up to a tie for fourth place in the CIAA North. They will have their hands full tonight as Bowie State enters with a 17-3 overall record, and are 11-1 in the CIAA. The Bulldogs are currently ranked #2 in the Atlantic Region. Senior
