Jennings and Lynch Power Hawks by Saint Augustine's

CU's Ransheda Jennings led her team in scoring with 28 points
RALEIGH, NC - Ransheda Jennings and Talaya Lynch scored 49 of Chowan's total 79 points to help power the Hawks to a 79-75 win over Saint Augustine's College in CIAA cross divisional action tonight. Jennings poured in 28 points and Lynch posted 21 points of her own to give Chowan their 5th win of the season. Chowan snapped a two-game losing skid with tonight's win and improve their overall record to 5-8. They move to 2-3 in the CIAA. Chowan handed the Lady Falcons their first CIAA loss of the season tonight as they move to 10-4 overall and 4-1 in the league.

Chowan took a 36-32 lead into halftime and came out in the second half to dominate. At one point Chowan led by 20 points in the second half but held off a late surge by the Lady Falcons to take the four point win.

The Hawks hit shots at a 40% clip tonight and held the Lady Falcons to 37% (25-67) on the night. Jennings scored 18 of her 28 total points from the foul line after hitting 18 of 23 attempts. She also had eight boards, three assists, and two steals in the win. Lynch posted 21 points and hauled in nine rebounds. Brittany Nicholson chipped in 11 points in the game.

For Saint Augustines, Allison Sikes and Brittany Torain each scored 15 points. Chowan (5-8, 2-3) will play their last CIAA cross divisional match up this Thursday night as they play host to Livingstone College. Tip off is set for 5:30pm at the Helms Center. Saint Augustines College will travel to Elizabeth City State on Thursday night for a 5:30pm in their next outing.
