LINCOLN, PA - The Chowan University women's soccer team picked up their first win of the 2010 season after shutting out Lincoln University (PA) 8-0 this afternoon. Chowan got off 30 shots in the match and held the Lady Lions to four shots on the day. Seven different players scored for Chowan and
Lacy Crafton netted two goals in the win. Chowan improves to 1-3 overall after today's win.
Chowan struck early and often in the match, which featured 21 shots on goal for the Hawks. Crafton got the scoring started after scoring at the 10:52 mark of the first period.
Alaina Beasley gave Chowan a 2-0 lead after scoring under a minute later. Crafton and
Erica Wagnon scored goals to give Chowan a 4-0 lead heading into halftime.
Katie Duncan added the Hawks 5th goal and
Kristy Brown , who normally starts in goal for Chowan, came on the field to score a goal in the 56th minute for a 6-0 Chowan lead.
Canesha Bradford gave Chowan a 7-0 lead in the 60th minute and
Tia Dees scored Chowan's 8th goal.
Brown played the first half in goal and
Ashley Cimino came in to finish out the game. Brown had two saves in the match and in the second period accounted for a goal and an assist.
The Hawks (1-3) will host Barton College on September 29th in a 4:00pm match for their next outing.
