Shaw Downs Hawks at Home

Talaya Lynch scored a game-high 14 points
MURFREESBORO - The women's basketball team dropped their sixth game in a row after falling to Shaw University 48-38 this afternoon in CIAA court action. Both teams struggled from the field, with the Hawks shooting just 27% and the Lady Bears hitting 28% of their shots taken. Shaw ruled the glass in the game, grabbing 46 total rebounds to Chowan's 29 rebounds. The Hawks fall to 7-13 overall, 4-11 in CIAA play, and 0-5 in the West. The Lady Bears improve their divisional record to 2-2 and 13-7 overall. They also come in with an 8-6 league record after today's game. 

Chowan took a two point, 24-22 lead into halftime but Shaw out scored the home standing Hawks 26-14 in the second half to pick up the ten point victory. Talaya Lynch scored a game-high 14 points while also grabbing eight rebounds. Najah Harris tallied nine points and had two assists in the loss. 

For Shaw, Janelle Harrison had 12 points while Victoria Tanner had a game-high 12 rebounds. 

Chowan will travel to Fayetteville State University in their next outing on February 8th. Tip off is slated for 5:30pm in Fayetteville.
