Livingstone Scores 59 Second Half Points to Beat Hawks

Ransheda Jennings had a game-high 27 points

MURFREESBORO - The women's basketball team fell to 7-11 overall and 4-9 in CIAA play after dropping a West Division match up to Livingstone College 91-86. The Lady Blue Bears scored 59 second half points to come from behind to beat Chowan on their home court tonight. The Hawks move to 0-3 in the West Division while Livingstone improves to 8-10 overall, 4-8 in the CIAA, and 2-0 in the division. Both Ransheda Jennings and Najah Harris posted 20 plus points but Livingstone hit nearly 60% (19-32) from the floor in the second half to take the win.

Chowan took a 37-32 lead into the half and got up by as many as 13 points with 13:15 to play in the game. But Livingstone's Brittany Wright and Kayler McBride helped bring the Lady Blue Bears back by scoring a combined 47 points. 

Chowan got 27 points from Ransheda Jennings, who left the game with 3:00 to play with five fouls. She hit 11-19 from the field and had three steals. Najah Harris had 21 points, three assists, and four rebounds in the game. Talaya Lynch scored 14 points and Naomi Walters had 10 points. 

For Livingstone, McBride netted a team-high 25 points while Wright came in with 22 points and eight rebounds. 

Chowan will travel to Saint Augustine's College on Thursday in their next outing. They will return to the Helms Center on Saturday, February 6th to host Shaw University.
