MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University women's basketball team suffered a 72-60 loss at the hands of Saint Augustine's College in a non-conference game this evening. The Hawks had three players in double figures but hit just 36% (22-62) from the floor in the game and turned the ball over 24 times. Chowan falls to 1-4 on the year while the Lady Falcons improve their overall record to 5-2. The Hawks will take a twelve day break from the court before they host UNC-Pembroke at home on December 14th.
Saint Augustine's took a 43-24 lead into halftime and never gave up the lead in the game. Chowan battled late in the second half to cut the Lady Falcon lead to under ten points but time ran out on the Hawks as they fell with the eventual 72-60 score.
Ransheda Jennings led scorers in the game with 22 points. Talaya Lynch chipped in 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds and Brittany Nicholson had 10 points.
For Saint Augustine's LaKeisha White scored 18 points while Jolisa Williams contributed 13 points and six rebounds.
Chowan will host UNC-Pembroke on December 14th at home in a 5:00pm tip off.
