NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The women's basketball team rolled to a 85-57 win over Newport News Apprentice School tonight behind the play of freshman
Talaya Lynch who dropped 22 points in the win. Ten different Chowan players scored but it was Lynch who led the way, putting on a show for her nearby hometown of Hampton.
Chowan shot 53% (31-58) from the floor, a season high, and scored 36 of their points off Shipbuilder turnovers.
Brittany Nicholson was perfect from the floor at 7-7 for 15 points while
Najah Harris scored 13 points and dished out six assists.
Ransheda Jennings scored 12 points and also had six assists.
Chowan improves to 4-6 after today's win. They will host back-to-back CIAA cross divisional games on Saturday against Saint Pauls and Monday against Elizabeth City State University. Saturday's tip with SPC is set for 2:00pm and Monday's start time is 5:30pm.
