Women's Basketball Falls to Bowie State University

Brittany Nicholson had a game-high 14 points in loss
MURFREESBORO - The women's basketball team fell to 0-2 on the year after losing to Bowie State University 50-41 in CIAA basketball action this afternoon. Ten different Lady Bulldogs scored in the game as they held off a late comeback by the Hawks to take the nine-point win. 

The Hawks offense was slow to get started and scored just 11 first half points. They bounced back with 30 second half points and cut the BSU lead to six with just over five minutes to play. But the first half damage was too much to overcome for the Hawks as they fell 50-41. 

The Lady Bulldogs out rebounded Chowan 48 to 39 in the game and hit 37% (19-51) of their shots taken from the floor. After shooting  16% from the floor the in first half, the Hawks came out to hit 36% (11-31) of their shots from the floor in the second half and 26% (16-62) in the game. 

Brittany Nicholson had a game-high 14 points to go with seven boards and three assists. Naomi Walters chipped in 12 points and had six rebounds. Tameka Christopher had nine rebounds in the game. 

For BSU, Bianca Lee and Denita Hill both scored 10 points. 

The Hawks fall to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in CIAA play while the Lady Bulldogs improve to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in league play. 

Chowan will host Lincoln University on Monday at 5:30pm in their next outing. BSU will travel next to Fayetteville State for a 5:30pm match up on Monday.
