The match up…These two teams enter Saturday's match without a win and one thing is certain after the final whistle blows: one team will leave the field with their first win of the 2009 season. The Hawks have suffered big losses @ Va Union and vs. FSU the past two weeks. Prior to VUU”s game, the Hawks had been “in” every game played, and lost their previous two match ups by just 8 combined points. The Blue Bears have been outscored 218 to 34 this season and the Hawks are hoping that their offense can put up big numbers on Saturday for their first season win.
A Year Ago…The Hawks pounded out a 41-20 win over Livingstone a year ago at home, giving the team their first-ever CIAA win. Chowan balanced their offensive attack, gaining 242 of rushing offense and 205 yards through the air. JJ Spates led the ground attack in the win with 90 yards and 1 rushing TD. CJ Westler passed for 205 yards on 17 completions and two TDs. Defensively Jeremy Bednardz-Gray collected 10 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and a pass break up.
