FERRUM, VA- Freshman Ashley Bradford notched her second hat trick of the season as the Hawks rolled to a 4-1 victory over Ferrum College this afternoon. Chowan improves to 5-3-1 on the year while falls to 2-3 overall.
Chowan out shot the Panthers 19 to 13 in the match and took a 2-0 lead into the half after Bradford and Amanda Jenkins netted goals in the 28th and 34th minutes of the game respectively. Melissa Rodgers and Katelyn Mahoney helped to set up the two goals for Chowan and recorded assists. Bradford netted her second goal of the game in the 63rd minute on an assist from Katie Perkins. Ferrum got on the board next to cut Chowan's lead to 3-1 in the 75th minute. Chowan put the game out of reach with Bradford's third goal in the 87th minute of the match. Meredith McCarthy recorded the assist on the 4th goal of the game.
Tiffany Lee started in goal for Chowan, getting six saves and allowing one goal. The Hawks will play next on Saturday when they host Southern Virginia at 12:00pm.
