MURFREESBORO - The women's soccer team fell 4-0 to Barton College in their home season opener this afternoon. Today's loss drops the squad to 0-2 on the season. Chowan got off 16 shots, 7 on goal, while the Bulldogs totaled 20 shots, 10 of them on goal, in the match.
Barton scored at the 40:15 mark of the first period and took a 1-0 lead into the half. They went up 2-0 at the 47:41 mark and added two more in the remainder of the game to take the 4-0 win over the Hawks.
For Chowan Tiffany Lee started in goal, allowing 4 goals while getting 6 saves, including an acrobatic save on a penalty kick in the first period. Freshman Ashley Bradford paced the Hawks with 6 shots, 3 on goal, while Stephanie Montague and Amanda Jenkins added 3 shots each in the loss.
Chowan will take the field again on Friday as they travel to Coker College for a 4:00pm match.
