MT. OLIVE, NC - Mt. Olive's Lyndsay Brennan scored the game-winning goal five minutes into the overtime period to lift them over the visiting Braves 2-1 this afternoon.
The two teams battled out a scoreless first period before the Trojans scored at the 59 minute mark to take a 1-0 lead over Chowan.
Stephanie Montague slipped one by the keeper and tied the game at 1-1 just over five minutes later, forcing the eventual overtime period.
Katelyn Mahoney assisted Montague on the goal.
Despite a valiant effort by
Emily Warthan and the Chowan defense, the Trojans scored at the 95:09 mark to take the win. Warthan collected 13 saves in the match. The Braves fall to 1-3 on the year while Mt. Olive improves to 3-2 overall.
The Braves will make their home season debut next Friday, September 16th when they host Meredith College at 4:00pm
